COVID-19 Update for Aug. 10: What to expect on campus this fall

The fall term marks the start of our transition to a more vibrant campus experience. As we welcome more members of the NAIT community to our campuses this fall, there will be more in-person services available. At the same time, many virtual options will remain to allow for enhanced choice and flexibility.

Below, you'll find an overview of what will be open on campus this fall, and how to access our facilities and services related to the following:

We continue to prioritize the health and safety of the NAIT community as we welcome more people to campus. We’ll share more in the coming days about campus safety this fall. In the meantime, visit the Your Safety on Campus page for current safety measures.


Student Service Centre

The Student Service Centre resumed limited in-person services on Aug. 9, and now also offers a live chat option on nait.ca, in addition to virtual and phone support. Students can join the line from home before coming to campus.

In-person services are limited to:

  • Customized confirmation of enrolment letters
  • Alberta Student Aid forms
  • Submitting documents for an application

Learning and advising


Library Services

In-person services, computers and study spaces are available, along with virtual services. The Study Lounge (U210), Makerspace (U310) and sound booths reopen Sept. 7. See hours, locations and services.

Computer Commons

The NAITSA Computer Commons in W203 will move to extended fall hours on Sept. 7.  The CAT Computer Commons will remain closed for fall. See hours.

Collaboration and meeting rooms

Students and staff can ad hoc book collaboration and meeting rooms. See online booking system. Staff can learn more on the intranet (login required). Staff meeting rooms can also be booked through Outlook. Remember to clean the space before and after use.   

International Centre

Starting Sept. 7, the International Centre will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with limited hours. During operating hours, students will be welcome in the space. The centre will also deliver in-person and virtual international engagement events throughout the fall.

The Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Throughout the fall, the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion will offer virtual and in-person workshops. See contact information and services.

Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre

The Nîsôhkamâtotân Centre will open Sept. 7 for one-on-one, in-person appointments for students. Virtual meetings for the PAY program will continue and are also available to prospective and current students. The community space will remain closed for now. Learning Services

Learning Services continue to be available virtually only. See services and access virtual learning and academic supports.

Academic Advising

Appointments continue to be available virtually only. Academic advising appointments can be booked through your MyNAIT Portal for

  • Prospective students
  • International students
  • School of Health and Life Sciences
  • School of Skilled Trades
  • School of Applied Science and Technology

Academic advising appointments for the JR Shaw School of Business can be booked by contacting the Business Information Centre. See hours, location, contact information and services.

Assessment Centre

The NAIT Assessment Centre is open for in-person proctoring. See hours, location, contact information and services.


Campus services and lockers

one AT NAIT

The one AT NAIT office reopens Aug. 16. Card pickup and mail-out options are available. See hours, location and services.

Parking Services

Starting Aug. 16, Parking Services will open for in-person services. Permits can be purchased online. Contract staff must contact parking@nait.ca for permits. See hours, location and contact information.                 

Keys and building access

In-person and virtual services continue to be available. Contact the team by phone (780.907.9017) or email.

ITS Help Desk

Information Technology Services continues to offer in-person, virtual and phone services. Walk-up service hours may differ from general support hours. See hours, locations, contact information and services.

Lockers

Lockers can be rented online.

Conference and Event Services

Contact events@nait.ca to inquire about current service options.


Health and wellness

Student Counselling

Student Counselling will resume in-person and drop-in service on Wednesday, Sept. 8. Phone and video appointments will continue to be available. See hours, location, contact information and services.

Mental Health Resources

Well-being education and promotion will take place virtually through social media, webinars, virtual events. See resource and services.

Recreation Facilities and Fitness Programs

Main Campus recreation facilities (the fitness centre, main gymnasium and arena) will open Sept. 1 with some restrictions. A variety of in-person and virtual programs will be available. See fitness facilities and programs.

Health Services

Our Health Services offices continue to offer in-person services. Patricia and Souch campus locations reopen in mid-August. See hours, locations and services. Masks are required in the Health Services offices.

Reflection rooms

Reflection rooms in J207 and CAT406 reopen on Sept. 8. Please adhere to posted capacity limits in these spaces.


Food and shopping

eat AT NAIT

eat AT NAIT is working hard to determine the services that will be available for students and staff as they come back to campus for the fall term. Hours, locations and services will be updated as soon as information is available.

Microwaves will be available on campus this fall.

shop AT NAIT

shop AT NAIT has in person, online and curbside shopping available for the NAIT community. See for hours, locations and services.

Retail Meat Store

The Retail Meat Store will be open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 21. See hours and location.

Ernest’s

Ernest’s will reopen for lunch service on Sept. 13 and dinner service on Sept. 14. See hours, and location, and make a reservation.


Events

A mix of in-person and virtual events will take place at NAIT this fall. As events are scheduled, students can find upcoming events listed on the MyNAIT portal (login required) and staff can find upcoming events posted on the intranet (login required). See also the NAITSA events listing.
