Integrated Emergency Management Plan

NAIT's Emergency Management and Business Continuity Department maintains an Integrated Emergency Management Plan (pdf 1.5 MB). This plan, along with NAIT's Emergency Event Instructions, ensures we are prepared to respond to and recover from incidents in a coordinated, effective and timely manner.

NAIT is committed to continuous improvement and regularly reviews, tests and adjusts our plans and procedures.

Call 911 for help during an emergency.

  • Afterwards, call Protective Services at 780.471.7477.
  • If it is safe to do so, remain at the incident location until first responders arrive. 
  • In a non-urgent or non-life-threatening situation, contact Protective Services. When in doubt, call 911.

Emergency Notifications

Protective Services can send timely emergency notifications through NAIT Alert using

  • The NAIT Alert mobile app (be sure to enable push notifications)
  • Email (to NAIT staff email accounts)
  • NAIT Twitter and, in select instances, Facebook
  • NAIT’s emergency website: nait.ca/emergency (alerts may also appear on nait.ca, staff intranet and MyNAIT Portal directing you to this website)
  • Desktop alerts on NAIT computers
  • Digital signage on NAIT campuses
  • Automated voice calls (to select users)
