COVID-19 Update for Sept. 3: What the new public health measures mean for NAIT

Posted: Sep 3, 2021 5:29 PM   |  Updated: Sep 3, 2021 5:35 PM

The Government of Alberta announced today some new public health measures to help curb the spread of COVID-19, including mandatory masking and incentives for those not yet fully vaccinated.

There is no impact to our scheduled in-person classes, shops, or labs. They will continue as planned. NAIT requires masks in all indoor, public spaces on campus. The health and safety of the NAIT community remains our top priority.

We are currently evaluating whether any services planned to reopen to in-person delivery need to return to virtual delivery for now. As decisions are made, we will update our Facilities & Services page on our COVID-19 website. Please check there regularly for updates.

As COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations continue to rise, we continue to strongly recommend members of the NAIT community get vaccinated as soon as possible, as this is the best way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19. We will be hosting a vaccine clinic on campus on Sept. 22 and 23 and will provide more details and registration information next week.

Information for staff

The government has also recommended that employees return to working from home when they are not required to be on campus to deliver in-person classes. NAIT continues to have many staff working from home; however, staff who are not required to be on campus to deliver a class or in-person service to students, or who do not have an accommodation from their supervisor to work on campus, should continue working from home. If you need to come to campus for any reason but are not scheduled to do so, please contact your supervisor for approval.

You can find the latest information on NAIT’s response to COVID-19 at nait.ca/covid19. Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep our community safe.
