COVID-19 Update for Dec. 3: Important deadline – new winter term students with in-person learning must upload proof of full vaccination by Dec. 8

Posted: Dec 3, 2021 10:30 AM   |  Updated: Mar 10, 2022 1:48 PM

Degree, diploma, certificate and upgrading students who have blended or in-person learning in winter term must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination through NAIT Alert by December 8.

Students accepted into a program after December 8 must upload their proof of vaccination within 2 business days of acceptance or by term start, whichever comes first.

Students only need to upload proof that they are fully vaccinated once during the 2021/22 academic year.

Winter term vaccine requirement for on-campus classes

Degree, diploma, certificate and upgrading students

By Wednesday, December 8, new and continuing winter term students with in-person learning need to complete the following steps

  • be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved accommodation
  • upload your proof of vaccination to NAIT Alert using your NAIT credentials and
  • receive approval to come to campus with a green QR code in NAIT Alert (please note it could take up to 48 hours for your proof of vaccination to be verified, so don’t leave this until the last minute)

Apprentices

Students enrolled in apprenticeship programs, with the exception of those in the Parts Technician program, which is completely online, must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination through NAIT Alert 4 weeks prior to the start of their apprenticeship program.

If a student enrols in an apprenticeship program less than 4 weeks before the start of classes, they must provide proof of vaccination through NAIT Alert within 2 business days after they enrol.

Continuing education students

Students enrolled in continuing education courses offered in-person at NAIT must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination through NAIT Alert 24 hours before the start of their class.

Full details of this process and requirements can be found at nait.ca/vaccine.

Consequences for non-compliance

Winter term students will be withdrawn from their courses or programs if they cannot meet in-person requirements for their studies.

Students in exclusively online programs are not required to be fully vaccinated. However, if they need to be on campus for any reason, they will be required to provide proof of vaccination through NAIT Alert or have an approved accommodation from NAIT.
