COVID-19 Update for April 7: Positive cases at NAIT and staying safe on campus

Posted: Apr 7, 2022 7:34 AM   |  Updated: Apr 14, 2022 8:15 AM

There has been an increase in positive cases of COVID-19 reported to NAIT over the last two weeks, which aligns with increased cases being reported to Alberta Health Services and trends observed in Edmonton wastewater data.

We want to remind the NAIT community that safety on campus is a shared responsibility. We can all contribute by

  • getting vaccinated, including getting your booster shot as soon as you are eligible
  • staying home when sick, even if you are vaccinated and have tested negative (if you get sick while on campus, go home)
  • choosing to wear a mask in shared spaces
  • practicing good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, such as covering your cough

NAIT is a highly vaccinated campus community thanks to the cooperative efforts of staff and students to protect themselves and each other. We continue with other measures to minimize the risk of exposure. We have upgraded our building ventilation and increased air circulation and filtration to reduce potential airborne spread and maintain enhanced cleaning for high-traffic areas and high-touch surfaces.

Thank you for your patience and resilience as we continue to respond to the ever-changing realities of the pandemic. We continue to monitor available information and public health guidance and will adjust our approach as required. We will continue to communicate to the NAIT community at nait.ca/covid19 when we have new information to share.
