Reduced activity on campus

We are taking a phased approach to reopening our campuses that prioritizes the health and safety of the NAIT community. We will continue to deliver education and services virtually, wherever possible. At the same time, we are offering in-person learning in shops and labs where necessary, and are re-opening select in-person services on campus. Activity on our campuses will continue to be reduced to lessen the risk of transmission of COVID-19 following direction from the province.

Staff 

  • Staff should only come to campus if scheduled to work on campus or if you have permission from your supervisor. Please see building access information on the Information for Staff page.  

Students, clients and visitors

  • Students, clients and visitors should review and follow the requirements on the Coming to Campus checklist before visiting NAIT campuses. Only come to campus for scheduled labs, shops or classes, or to access one of the few services open on campus. We ask that you come directly for your scheduled activity and leave immediately afterwards.

Library Services and Computer Commons

Library Services (U310) is open with limited capacity and services.

  • Print materials, laptops and/or other technologies can be borrowed from the library. Find out how.
  • NAITSA Computer Commons (W203) is open. CAT Computer Commons (CAT215) is closed. The Study Lounge and Makerspace are  closed.
  • Hours of operation and more information are available online.

Patrons must wear masks. Food and beverages are not allowed at the library and Computer Commons.

NAIT Assessment Centre

Open for face-to-face proctoring.

Student Collaboration and Meeting Rooms

Closed

  • Students are encouraged to use NAIT's online learning platforms for any group work or collaboration.

IT Services

Key and Access Office

  • NAIT Protective Services (NPS) located in D104 will be accepting key returns.
  • Employees and supervisors should contact keys@nait.ca to confirm key lists prior to visiting NPS.
Lockers

Main Campus 
Lockers can be rented online beginning August 24.

Souch and Patricia campuses 
Lockers  can be rented online beginning August 28.

Weekly rentals
A variety of shorter rental periods (2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 weeks) will be available at a special rate for Fall 2020. Please note the weekly term rentals begin from the day you reserve your locker.

Parking Services

Closed for in-person services. Parking fees are currently being waived for staff, students and visitors through December 2020. If you are parking on campus, permits are currently not required.

Select student lounges are open in CAT, CH, G, H, HET, J, L, S, V and W

  • Some student lounges in these buildings will remain closed. These will be blocked off with furniture and/or signage indicating they are closed.

All Health Services locations at NAIT are open.

  • Main Campus Clinic (O119) open 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday (closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.)
  • Patricia Campus Health Office (P130) open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Friday (closed for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

Recreation facilities

Student Counselling

Closed for in-person and drop-in services

  • Students can contact Counselling by phone at 780.378.6133, by email at counselling@nait.ca or  through our online contact form.
  • Students can also access video counselling service 24 hours a day through MyWellness, a support provided by the NAIT Students Association.
Reflection Rooms

Closed

  • If you are seeking spiritual support or guidance, please connect virtually with one of NAIT's 9 volunteer chaplains. Email chaplaincy@nait.ca to book an appointment.

Food and shopping

Food Services

We are pleased to be opening a selection of food service locations to serve those required to be on campus this fall. Beginning Sept. 8, the following locations are open*:

  • Bytes (HP Centre): 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Fresh Express: 7 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Starbucks (CAT): 7:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • One World: 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
  • Ernest’s: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. 
  • Elements (Souch): 6:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
  • Plates (Patricia): 7:00 a.m. – 1 p.m.

*Please note, all hours are subject to change

Seating areas for eating

  • Seating areas for eating will be available in CAT Square, Starbucks (CAT), Fresh Express, and Bytes. The seating area in Common Market will not be open. There will also be seating areas at Souch and Patricia Campus.

Microwaves

  • Microwaves in public spaces will not be available due to the risks associated with high-touch surfaces and line-ups.
